History and tradition

About this celebration

Kula's modern celebration was established in 1991, when the Municipal Council chose 19 August — Preobrazhenie Gospodne under the old calendar. Council chair d-r Dimitar Tsankov recounts the decision to Radio Vidin. Town Day is also the culmination of the traditional Kula fair: a church water blessing and ceremonial session meet fairground festivities and recognition of local artists and schoolchildren.

Bulgarian original
