About this celebration

Varna celebrates its day on Uspenie Bogorodichno, 15 August. The Municipal Council designated the day in 1993; it was first declared a non-working day in 2007. Over the years, a town-wide celebration of cultural and maritime events has developed around it, continuing the choice of the Marian feast as the city's day.
