THE TOWN AT A GLANCE
The history of Boychinovtsi as a local administrative center has been documented since the early 20th century. In 1910, an independent municipality was formed centered on the then village of Boychinovtsi, separated from the Belotin municipality. Initially, it also included Ohrid and Pali lula; later its composition changes.
By Decree No. 1942 of September 4, 1974, Boychinovtsi was declared a city, and the former village of Ogosta was annexed to it as a district. The administrative changes of December 22, 1978 expanded the municipality; in 1987, it was joined by Lehchevo, Gromshin, Kobilyak and Beli Brod, and the population became 13. The town remains a municipal center and an important railway junction with connections to Montana, Vidin and Sofia, without the history of the neighboring villages being presented as the history of the town itself.
